    • Chandigarh, July 10--The dependents of deceased workers and labourers who died while performing their duty in Haryana, can heave a sigh of relief and look forward to early release of grant-in-aid.
    • The state government has decided to grant financial assistance in such cases without obtaining copy of the FIR under the Mukhya Mantri Shramik Samajik Suraksha Yojna being implemented by the State Labour Welfare Board. Now the grant-in-aid will be provided on the production of DDR copy along with other requisite documents.
    • Stating this here today, an official spokesman said the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, had approved a proposal to this effect. Earlier, dependents of the deceased had to submit copy of the FIR to get financial assistance under the scheme. Now financial benefit to the dependent of deceased would be endorsed on the production of copy of DDR.
    • This decision would also be applicable to all pending applications and benefit all labourers working in factories or industries in the state. It would avoid unnecessary delay in providing financial assistance to the eligible beneficiaries.
    • Under the scheme, a compensation of Rs 5 lakh is given in case of death of a worker during the course of performing his duty at the place of work, the spokesman added.
