    • Chandigarh, Oct 1–The Haryana Government would link cold store and warehouse with agriculture and issue licenses even to farmers to enable them to set these up at their farms to keep their produce safe. This would help increase their income and strengthen their economic condition.
    • This was informed by the Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, who was speaking after inaugurating a block of 50 shops set up in new Sabzi Mandi, Karnal, today.
    • He said the state government was a true well wisher of traders and farmers. In order to deal with the problems faced by traders and farmers, the state government would spend Rs 216 crore to develop 99 mandis in the state. The mandi in Karnal has been developed on 35 acres of land at a cost of Rs 16 crore.
    • The Chief Minister said the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, had implemented the Goods and Services Tax (GST) to create one-nation-one-tax regime.  It is a commendable step. The procedure to implement GST has been under discussion for the last 20 years, but no government took the initiative to implement it. He urged the traders to get registered under GST.
    • Horticulture is being promoted in the state to double the income of farmers. In recent years, the area under horticulture increased by five per cent, but in about three years of the present state government, the area has increased to 7.58 per cent. The state government has established horticulture clusters in 340 villages which have irrigation and other facilities.
    • Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated Kala Samagam Pratiyogita organised by the Municipal Corporation, Karnal, under the flyover located at ITI Chowk, by lighting a lamp and spinning yarn on Charkha. He tied a red-coloured yarn to a frame which had slogan written on it ‘I promise that from today onwards I would not spread dirt anywhere’ (Main Vachan Deta Hun Ki Aaj Se Kahin Bhi Gandagi Nahi Failaunga).
    • While going around the painting competition, he expressed the confidence that this activity would add to the beauty of the city. An artist from Manipur also presented the Chief Minister with his portrait.
    • On the occasion of Dussehra, the Chief Minister also launched Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana under the Haryana State Rural Livelihoods Mission and handed over keys of TATA Magic and Autos to six families of Gharaunda block. The beneficiaries would have to deposit the amount in five years through equal monthly instalments and no interest would be charged. 
    • He said the aim of Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihood Mission--was to provide alternative employment under the Haryana State Rural Livelihoods Mission to members of self- help groups through public transport services in backward rural areas.
    • Chandigarh, Oct 1 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal announced that the beautification of Dussehra ground in Faridabad would be carried out at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore.
    • Keeping in view the dispute from last several years, the Chief Minister said that from next year Dussehra would be organised under the charge of Deputy Commissioner.
    • He said that adequate amount of funds had been allocated for development of Faridabad which had never been done by any other chief minister in last 50 years. Working with the ideology of all round development, equal amount of funds were allocated in those districts which were represented by MLAs of opposition parties. No discrimination had been done with any district, he added.
