    • Chandigarh, Nov 30 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, alongwith Union Minister of State for Railways, Mr Rajen Gohain, flagged off new train namely Gita-Ganga Express between Hisar and Haridwar via Kurukshetra and Ambala, in Kurukshetra today. 
    • He also inaugurated construction work of new Rohtak-Meham-Hansi railway line and laid foundation stone of renovation work of Kurukshetra railway station.
    • The Chief Minister said that passengers would be able to board the Gita-Ganga Express at Kurukshetra at 10:40 a.m. and would return the same day at 8:30 p.m. Besides, a train namely Gita Jayanti Express was started last year between Haridwar and Mathura, the birth place of Lord Krishna. These two trains would connect Mathura and Kurukshetra with Haridwar.
    • He said that upon its completion, the Rohtak-Meham-Hansi rail line would shorten the distance by about 70 kilometres. 
    • He said that more rail infrastructure had been developed in the last three years than had been developed in 48 years. The Sonepat-Jind rail line has linked central and western Haryana.
    • Earlier, Union Minister of State for Railways, Mr Rajen Gohain said that Rs nine crore would be spent on renovation of Kurukshetra railway station and all facilities would be made available there.
    • Haryana Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Krishan Kumar urged the Union Minister of State for stoppage of the Gita-Ganga Express at Shahabad Markanda as well.
    • Chandigarh, Nov 30 – Union Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister, Uma Bharti today urged the parents of girls to spend their resources on their daughters’ education instead of on dowry. This would further boost the ambitious Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao programme launched by the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi.
    • The Union Minister was speaking at the Global Gita Chanting Programme organised as a part of International Gita Mahotsav in Kurukshetra today.
    • Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, who was presiding over the programme, said that the shalokas recited by 18,016 students during the Global Gita Chanting Programme would show a new path to the entire world. He said that 18 shalokas from 18 chapters of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita were recited simultaneously in 40 countries during the programme. Apart from this, 108 Brahmins also recited the ‘Gita Path’ at Jyotisar. 
    • The Chief Minister said that 25 lakh people have so far visited the International Gita Mahotsav. He said that approval has been given for Rs 95 crore under Krishna Circuit Yojana.
    • Union Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister, Uma Bharti and Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal also released a book penned by Mr. Dhani Ram Bharti.
    • Haryana Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Krishan Kumar and Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj also spoke on this occasion.
    • Chandigarh, Nov 30–The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal,  has said that the state government will launch a programme to prevent anemia among children in the state for which Miss World Manushi Chhillar would be the brand ambassador. 
    • He disclosed this while addressing a press conference along with Miss World Manushi Chhillar in Kurukshetra today. 
    • Extending support to the “Shakti Project” campaign being carried out by Manushi Chhillar to spread awareness about menstrual hygiene among girls, the Chief Minister said the state government would make free supply of sanitary napkins in all schools of the state to further promote such projects. A sum of Rs 18 crore would be spent on this scheme.
    • Congratulating Manushi Chhillar for her achievement which brought laurels to the state and the nation at the global level, Mr Manohar Lal said it was a matter of pride and happiness that our daughter, after becoming Miss World, had selected International Gita Mahotsav programme for her first visit to Haryana. Manushi’s answer to the last question “which profession deserves the highest salary and why” paved the way for her to secure the Miss World title.
    • Speaking on this occasion, Manushi Chhillar said Haryana had given her a lot. Being a medical student of Khanpur Medial College, famous for girls’ education, she had a dream to do something for girls in Haryana. She lauded the efforts made and initiatives taken by the Chief Minister and the state government to improve the sex ratio in the state.
    • She also thanked Chairperson of Miss World Organisation, Julia Morley, for giving an opportunity to young girls like her and said this year the award for beauty with purpose had been given to India.
    • Asked whether she will make her career in medical profession or in Bollywood, Manushi Chhillar said five Indian women had won the Miss World Crown. Out of them, only two had opted to become actresses. It is not necessary to move towards glamour world, she added.
    • Chairperson of Miss World Organization, Julia Morley, Additional Chief Secretary, School Education, Dr K.K. Khandelwal, and other prominent people were also present on this occasion.
