Chandigarh, April 15: Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal while presiding over a review meeting with the officers of Foreign Cooperation Department (FCD) said that dedicated efforts should be made to ensure that Haryanvi Diaspora Connect with the State Government gets stronger. “Developing strong ties with Haryanvi diaspora for the socio-economic welfare of the region should be the utmost priority of the Department,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.

Sh. Manohar Lal directed the concerned officers of Haryana Foreign Cooperation Department to identify potential investors across the world in order to establish Haryana as a global brand through ‘Go-Global Approach’ for transforming Haryana into a global economy and further prepare a progress chart of the activities being conducted by the Department and also hold a monthly review meeting.

“Specific country-wise targeted activities towards export enhancement should also be prepared. Besides this, targeting investors through potential mapping should also be done on a priority basis,” directed the Chief Minister.

Activities Undertaken to facilitate Haryanvi Diaspora

During the meeting, the Chief Minister was apprised that dedicated efforts have been made by the department for further strengthening Haryana’s Embassy Connect across the globe.

Director General and Secretary, Foreign Cooperation Department, Dr. Anant Prakash Pandey apprised the Chief Minister regarding various facilitation initiatives taken by the Department for extending help to Haryanvi Diaspora. He said that the department is organizing regular interaction and exchange programmes for ensuring strong links with Haryanvi Diaspora.

Initiatives undertaken for Embassy Connect

Dr. Anant Prakash Pandey further shared that since last year and till now the state government has held fruitful interactions with the Embassy of Poland in India, US Embassy in India, UK Embassy in India, Embassy of Switzerland in India, Australian Embassy in India, Indian Embassy in Japan, Madagascar Embassy, Norak County Kenya, High Commission of India, Uganda, Indian Mission in Uzbekistan and High Commission Malawi.

Dr. Anant Prakash Pandey further shared that the Department is working towards promoting Haryana as the most preferred destination for investment from abroad as well as developing strong ties with academic institutions and Haryanvi diaspora for the socio-economic welfare of the region. He said that the Department aims to establish the State as a hub for industries, education, skill development, and tourism.

He said that the dedicated efforts made by the department for strengthening the Embassy Connect has started bearing fruits as the countries have shown their keen investment interest in various sectors like collaboration in the area of Dairy Products, Animal meat, Skill Development, Technical Education and Vocational Education, Sports, Student exchange, collaboration in the sectors such as Defense, MSME, IT, Food Processing, Emerging Technologies such as AI, industry 4.0, drone, Student Exchange Programme, etc.

Initiatives undertaken for Skill Development

While Exchange Programme, etc.divulging details about activities undertaken by the FCD towards Skill Development, Dr. Anant Prakash Pandey shared that as per the directions given by the Chief Minister, the department is leaving no stone unturned to ensure international level skill training and certification which would enable overseas placement of Haryanvi youth. He shared that the department is in process of signing an MoU in the areas of collaboration on Skill Development with world class organizations namely Nanyang Polytechnic Institute, Singapore, Ecole Hotelière de Lausanne (EHL), Lausanne Switzerland in the area of Hospitality, Swissnex, etc.

He informed that discussions are also being held for fully integrated staffing needs in Canada, and capacity building cooperation between Australia and Haryana to improve the technical education in Haryana in collaboration with TAFE, Australia. He said that efforts are being made to connect people for sharing their ideas to foster exchange in education, research and innovation.

Activities undertaken towards Facilitation and Investment Promotion

Dr. Anant Prakash Pandey apprised the Chief Minister that the department has taken various initiatives for Facilitation and Investment Promotion. Recently, the talks were held with the Ambassador of India to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sh. Manish Prabhat regarding future India-Uzbekistan events. Apart from this, talks are being held over India Georgia  research and innovation.Opportunities for Collaboration and a National workshop on Investment Promotion by Invest India was also held recently.

While appreciating the work done by the Department, the Chief Minister directed the officers to increase agro-based export and identify potential trade partners. Apart from this, he said that since manpower is a big asset of the State, ways to tap this potential should be explored.

During the meeting, Principal Secretary, Foreign Cooperation Department, Sh. Yogender Chaudhry, Adviser, Foreign Cooperation Department, Sh. Pawan Choudhary and other senior officers were present.
