  • Chandigarh, September 25: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal today said that to realize Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi’s vision of Vocal for Local, the Haryana Government is laying special emphasis on imparting skill training to the youth for the manufacturing of local products and also making adequate arrangement of marketing of their produce.
  • Mr Manohar Lal was speaking at a national seminar on ‘Swadeshi Swavlamban Se Atmnirbhar Bharat’ jointly organized by Haryana State Higher Education Council and Swadeshi Swavlamban Trust to mark the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya through video conferencing here today .
  • Paying rich tributes to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya on his birth anniversary, the Chief Minister said the State Government is working on the principle of ‘Antyodaya’ given by Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and has implemented several programmes for the upliftment of poor, destitute and weaker sections of the society.
  • The Chief Minister said that though Haryana has made tremendous progress in various fields including agriculture since independence yet the country was lagging behind other countries like Japan and Israel in terms of self-sufficiency in many fields. He said that Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi has taken the period of COVID-19 as a challenge and the Rs 20 lakh crore financial package announced by him for the farmers, traders, industrialists, workers etc would go a long way in making the country Atmnirbhar. He said that today apart from meeting the requirement of over 130 crore population of the country, India has become a major exporter in several fields. He said that earlier medical items like PPE Kits, face masks, hand sanitizers were not manufactured in India but now we are exporting these items to other countries also. Today, the whole world is watching us, he added.
  • He said that various significant steps have been taken by the State Government to make the youth self-reliant through their skill development. Shri Vishwakarma Skill University has been set up and MOUs have been signed with 150 different industries so as to provide employment opportunities to the trained youth of the State. Apart from this, 1.04 lakh youth have been provided work under the Saksham Yuva Scheme. He said that the State Government has eliminated the system of Parchi and Kharchi in the recruitment of government jobs and has so far provided employment to 85,000 youth in different departments on merit basis. In all, five lakh people have been provided employment in government and private sector in the last more than five years. He said that Haryana has become a preferred destination for the industries to make investment and various facilities like land on lease is also being provided to the entrepreneurs for setting up their units in the State.
  • The Chief Minister urged the experts participating in the seminar to give their vital suggestions to take the message of Atmnirbhar Bharat’ further ahead and said that their genuine suggestions would be adopted by the State Government.
  • On this occasion, six experts have been honoured with Dattopant Thengadi National Swalamban Samman in recognition of their outstanding contribution in the field of skill and industrial development. They included Additional Chief Secretary, Skill Development and Industrial Training Department Mr Devender Singh, CEO Econ Industries Dr Jitender Kumar, Dr Ravinder Singh Rana from S.V.P-India Concentric, Executive Director, JBM Group, Dr Nishant Arya, Managing Director, Roop Auto Mr Mohit Oswal and Vice Chairman and MD Krishna Group, Mr Sunandan Kapoor. In all, 16 experts and institutions were honoured with this prestigious award.
  • Earlier speaking on this occasion, Education Minister, Mr Kanwar Pal said that Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi has given the call of Vocal for Local and people producing or manufacturing local products should be motivated. He urged the prominent people of the society to come forward and become a role model for others in promoting local products.
  • Principal Economic Adviser, Government of India Mr Sajeev Sanyal , Chairman, Haryana State Higher Education Council Prof Brij Kishore Kuthiala and renowned thinker and social activist Mr Dattatrey Hosbale also presented their views.
  • Among those who attended the seminar through video conferencing included Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Mr Sanjeev Kaushal, Principal Secretary, Industries Mr A.K Singh, Director General, Higher Education Mr Ajit Balaji Joshi, Vice Chancellor, Shri Vishwakarma Skill University Prof. Raj Nehru, and other experts.
