  • Chandigarh, May 28: Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal has said that due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, Special Shramik Trains are being run on a daily basis from various railway stations to send willing workers from Haryana to their home states. In this series, a Special Shramik Train has departed from Haryana to West Bengal today. He said that the workers have made a significant contribution to the progress and development of the state.
  • Train from Gurugram to New-Cooch-Behar in West Bengal
  • The first special train for West Bengal carrying 1,600 workers left from Gurugram railway station at 6 pm today. This train has gone to an area called New-Cooch-Behar in West Bengal. While leaving, the workers sitting in the train expressed gratitude by folding hands and raised ‘Jai Haryana’ slogans.  Workers brought here from different districts of Haryana have been sent to their home state at government’s expense through Special Shramik Train.
  • Today, 1,600 workers were brought to the railway station by buses to board Shramik Special Train. These workers also include citizens of different districts of Bihar. At the railway station, their health check-up was done and they were provided with food and water after hand sanitization. Masks were provided to each passenger after thermal scanning. Thereafter, each worker was given a free ticket to board the train.
  • Other food items, including food packets and water, were distributed among the workers at the railway station. Soaps and sanitizers were kept in all the compartments of the train. There were female passengers and children also in the train who were given toys, biscuits and chocolates.
  • Today, registered workers were sent from Gurugram by the 13th Special Shramik Train to Cooch Behar, West Bengal. For the last several days, the workers are being sent to their home states by train and buses as per the government’s order. Each and every person is being sent to his or her home states only on the basis of medical fitness certificate.
